Who Is Appointed by Russian Parties? Key Insights from the Market Survey
by Russian Women in Arbitration (RWA) x Ivanyan and Partners
Russian Women in Arbitration (RWA) and Ivanyan and Partners are pleased to invite you to immerse yourself into the enchanting atmosphere of the 18th century at our joint event held at the House of the Muravyov-Apostols, the manor of nobility built in the classicism style. The House has a rich history: it survived the Fire of Moscow (1812), became home to members of Decembrists’ societies and endured difficult times in the 1990s.
The event program includes an open discussion to be held in the Ballroom of the House. The discussion will be dedicated to the preliminary results of RWA’s survey on the appointment of arbitrators in disputes related to Russia. This type of survey has not been conducted for several years, so you will have a unique opportunity to gain insights into how Russian arbitration practitioners approach the appointment of arbitrators in international disputes today and share your experience as well.
After the discussion, there will be a cozy reception in the Pink Drawing Room of the House, traditionally used for gatherings of this kind, where you will be offered food and drinks.
Agenda
11:30 – 12:00 | Registration and Welcome Buffet
12:00 – 13:15 | Discussion of the Results of the RWA Survey
The discussion will take place in the Ballroom of the House in the format of an open dialogue, where the audience will be able to share their experiences of appointing arbitrators or acting as an arbitrator in disputes related to Russia. The discussion will cover, among other things, the following issues:
• which arbitral institutions are most often used by Russian parties;
• which factors are taken into account by Russian parties when appointing arbitrators;
• how often do parties and arbitral institutions appoint female arbitrators;
• whether the age of an arbitrator affects his appointment in a particular dispute;
• whether there is an increase in the appointment of arbitrators from Russia or “friendly” jurisdictions.
The discussion will be moderated by the members of the RWA team: Anna Avdulova (Senior Associate, Ivanyan and Partners), Margarita Drobyshevskaia (Deputy Counsel, SIAC) and Polina Tulina (Senior Associate, ALUMNI Partners).
13:15 – 14:30 | Networking and Drinks
After the discussion, there will be a cozy reception in the Pink Drawing Room of the House, traditionally used for gatherings of this kind, where you will be offered food and drinks. A quick tour around the House will be organized for the participants of the event, if interested.
The event will be held in English.
