Belarus as a friendly arbitration seat for EAEU, CIS, SCO, BRICS and other regional commercial disputes
Seminar / roundtable discussion on the current legislation and practice of international arbitration in Belarus, the impact of foreign sanctions and application of Belarusian anti-sanctions measures, recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.
In recent years, the business community's perception of what constitutes an ‘arbitration-friendly’ jurisdiction has changed dramatically. The users’ expectations towards modern arbitration institutions are also very different.
Is the Republic of Belarus an arbitration-friendly jurisdiction? What is the practice of application of Belarusian anti-sanction measures, as well as recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in Belarus? Can the Chamber of Arbitrators or the International Arbitration Court at the BelCCI offer contending parties ‘value for money’ and become a worthy alternative to other dynamically developing arbitration institutions in the region? What changes to the arbitration legislation and the Arbitration Rules of the Chamber of Arbitrators can make Minsk even more convenient place to resolve regional commercial disputes between parties from the EAEU, CIS, SCO and BRICS?
Considering the growing number of such disputes in the practice of Belarusian arbitration institutions, the seminar participants will reflect on above questions and, most importantly, share their practical arbitration experience in Belarus as arbitrators and representatives of the parties.
